This course explores the fundamental principles and practices of officiating across a wide range of sports. Students will gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of sports officials and how to apply key officiating concepts in various athletic settings. Topics covered include officiating objectives, professional conduct, effective communication, conflict resolution, physical fitness and injury prevention, legal considerations, and career development opportunities in the field. While examples may draw from multiple sports, the course is designed to prepare students with the versatile skills needed to officiate in diverse environments. This course is ideal for those interested in careers in officiating, coaching, youth sports, and recreational sport management.
