This course is a historical survey of the United States from the end of the Civil War to the present. The course also introduces students to historical reasoning skills.
Some topics addressed are Reconstruction, the American West, capital and labor in the age of enterprise, America as an emerging world power, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam Era, the Cold War, and the new world order. This course fulfills the American Institutions requirement for the Associate Degree. It is recommended for all history majors and satisfies a course requirement for the History for Transfer (AA-T) degree.
