This course introduces principles of ecological stewardship and sustainable river ecosystems that inform water conservation practices, with particular emphasis given to wildlife conservation and ecology of the LA River. The course will also survey the environmental, cultural, and political history of the Paayme Paxaayt. Working in partnership with various conservation organizations as part of the LA River Revitalization Project, students receive orientation to the LA River Ambassador career pathway in a collaborative, field-based learning community. This course also has broader applications for students interested in furthering educational goals and/or career opportunities in such fields as: environmental technology, forestry, park ranger, and city/county park maintenance.
