The noncredit ESL courses focuses on preparing students to use English to achieve tasks within a variety of real-life situations and experiences. Students are provided with skills to be able to listen, speak, read, and write in English. The instructors are experienced in providing high-quality instruction in an interactive classroom environment. The ESL classes are organized from beginning to advance with opportunities to earn a Certificate of Competency in areas of Foundational English, Intermediate English and Advanced English. These certificates mark successful progress in the ESL sequence. Classes are offered in multiple locations and flexible times throughout the communities the college serves.

NESL 015 - ESL Beginning II (0.0 units) Prerequisite:NESL 001 or equivalent placement (CASAS Appraisal) This course is designed to provide an introduction to English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills enabling the student to satisfy routine demands in social settings. Students develop the ability to comprehend and respond to basic spoken English. Students practice reading and writing at the sentence level. If taken in sequence with NESL 001, successful completion of this course earns a Certificate of Competency in Foundational English as a Second Language and prepares students for entry into NESL 016. | ||
