The Noncredit Healthcare Clerical Medical Assistant program prepares students for a variety of non-clinical entry-level positions in the growing healthcare field. The program comprises several short-term vocational education opportunities that cover essential academic and practical training with a focus on employment readiness. Instructors will provide theoretical knowledge in health sciences and offer guidance from their seasoned experience as health service professionals in various medical settings. Students who complete the proposed program’s 7-course sequence may earn up to 3 certificates: Certificate of Completion in Healthcare Foundations and CPR/Basic, Certificate of Completion: Medical Office Assistant, Certificate of Completion: Medical Billing Specialist. All certificates are approved by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Students who complete the program’s full curriculum (NHSN 040, 032, NSCI 041, NHSN 042, 043, 044) may pursue an additional industry credential, Certified Professional Biller, by taking the certifying exam administered by AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders).
